• Dr. Ed Boldrey, the Historian of the Society of Neurological Surgeons 1972-1983 was a gentle and soft-voiced person, respected by all his peers. It would be difficult to recount all the fine things he did for the Society both as President in 1965-1966 and later as Historian. Many of the things he accomplished were through subtle influence on colleagues, not only in this Society but also in many other organizations. Although the evidence is fragmentary, it appears that it was Dr. Boldrey who conceived of having a Seal in the late 1960s and who first used the seal in the 50th Anniversary Volume. We have images of some of the alternatives that he entertained, but none of them measure up to the one finally selected by Dr. Boldrey.
