• David D. Limbrick Jr., MD, PhD, was born in Richmond, Virginia on February 9, 1970. He received his B.S. degree from the College of William and Mary in 1992 and his MD and PhD from the Medical College of Virginia in 2001. He completed his neurosurgery residency at Washington University in 2007 and served as fellow in pediatric neurosurgery at St. Louis Children’s Hospital from 2007-2008. Dr. Limbrick is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the American Board of Pediatric Neurosurgery.

    Following his training, Dr. Limbrick was appointed Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery and Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine and was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure in 2014. He serves as Associate Neurosurgery Residency Program Director and Co-Director of the Pediatric Neurosurgery Fellowship at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. His areas of clinical interest are pediatric brain tumors, pediatric epilepsy, and pediatric spinal disorders as well as the treatment of disorders of cerebral hydrodynamics including hydrocephalus and Chiari I malformation with syringomyelia.

    Dr. Limbrick’s research focuses on hydrocephalus and syringomyelia. He is active within the Hydrocephalus Clinical Research Network and serves as Principal Investigator for the Park Reeves Syringomyelia Research Consortium. He has published over 90 scientific papers and has been awarded research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), the March of Dimes, and the Hydrocephalus Association. He has received the Public Service Citation from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons Young Neurosurgeon’s Committee for international neurosurgical relief work. Most recently, he was awarded the Humanism in Medicine award from Washington University School of Medicine.

    Dave, his wife Catherine, and his children Owen and Lily live in St. Louis.
